Last weekend I had the last of a series of jazz gigs with Cyrille Gosselin at the new location of The French Bakery in Bellevue. At a French bakery, of course we included some French songs in our set – Cyrille sings most of them, but we also included my jazz version of “Habanera” from the opera Carmen. The place had a steady stream of customers yesterday, no surprise as word seems to be catching on and there were lots of people out and about taking care of their Christmas shopping.

But the best perk about singing at a French bakery? French hospitality. We were each sent home with a baguette and a box of freshly baked pastries! I could eat half a dozen pastries a day for the rest of my life, but I probably shouldn’t.
